Sandbach United cruise past Winsford United with a spectacular performance.

The Ramblers thrashed Winsford United 4-0 at Hind Heath Road, ensuring their place in the play-offs.

Thirty-one points separated the two sides, with Sandbach pushing for promotion, and Winsford being in a relegation battle. The hosts were in good form previous to this fixture after beating Stockport Georgians away from home last week.

Manager, Declan Swan stated that Sandbach, “should not take Winsford’s league position as a forgone conclusion and victory today.”

The absence of Jordan Stafford saw a centre-back pairing of Tom Morris and Rory Roberts, who has recently returned to the Ramblers. Additionally, Robbie Hatton was picked as captain for the fixture.

George Kattah opened the scoring early for Bach as he ran onto a great through ball to put him in behind the Winsford defence. Kattah wisely took the ball around the goalkeeper before slotting it into the back of the net.

In the 18th minute, Stan Tatters increased Sandbach’s lead. A rapid low driven cross found Tatters in the box, allowing Tatters to guide the ball into the bottom corner with a stunning one-touch finish.

Throughout the course of the first half, Sandbach goalkeeper Seb Jensen made numerous vital saves, denying any chances for the visitors to get back into the game.

Just before the half time whistle, the Ramblers had a great chance to make the scoreline 3-0. Robbie Hatton played the ball through to Kieran Alley before being brought down, however Alley’s effort soared over the crossbar.

At the beginning of the second half, Winsford were having spells of good play, attempting to get back into the game.

In the 75th minute, Joshua Oultram scored for the Ramblers. Oultram did not fail to hit the target after Alley set him up across the face of the goal.

Kieran Alley had another great chance during the second half with an outstanding run down the wing, as he took his opportunity to shoot. Alley’s shot was blocked by Winsford’s centre back.

As the game was coming to an ,,end, Harry Payne scored in the 90th minute after just being substituted on. Captain, Robbie Hatton, pinged the ball to Payne, allowing Payne to volley the ball into the back of the net to put Sandbach four goals in front.

Sandbach displayed a great performance against Winsford, allowing them to pick up three points at home and secure their place in the play-offs. Declan Swan made several changes throughout the game, making sure the Ramblers kept their clean sheet.

Sandbach now face Barnton next Saturday at 3:00PM, as they look to pick up another three points at Hind Heath Road.
